Japan international Daisuke Matsui has joined Russian Premier League cub FC Tom Tomsk on loan from Grenoble Foot.
The midfielder is set to spend four months in Russia after spending six years in France.
Matsui started all of his country's World Cup matches in South Africa as they reached the last 16, where they were eliminated by Paraguay on penalties.
He began his career with J-League club Kyoto Sanga, suffering relegation twice during his stint there but also making his international debut.
A diminutive figure, he was picked up by Le Mans where he quickly established himself as a fan favourite, playing a key role in their promotion to Ligue 1 in his first season.
Nick-named 'Le soleil du Mans' ('The Sun of Le Mans') he spent four years at the club before attracting overseas interest, electing to stay in France with Saint-Etienne only to endure a difficult time there.
He has been on the lookout for a new club following Grenoble's relegation last season.
