Mohamed Bin Hammam: I Won't Challenge Sepp Blatter For FIFA Presidency
Qatari supremo to focus on defending Asian title.

Bin Hammam instead said he would focus on being re-elected chief of the AFC, a position he has held since 2002 and which he had to defend fiercely just last year against Bahrain Football Association president Salman Bin Ibrahim.
"Let me be very clear, I will not run for the next FIFA election. I will be backing Sepp Blatter to remain in office for a new mandate," said Bin Hammam.
"My aim is to run for the next election of AFC president due at the start of 2011.
"Hopefully I will get the full confidence of all the national associations."
The Qatari is widely seen as the successor to Blatter, who has held his post since 1998.
Bin Hammam has overseen the creation of the Asian Champions League during his reign as chief of Asia thus far, as well as the introduction of Australia into the confederation.
Though he has hinted in the past that he might be set to challenge Blatter for his throne, this represents a significant backing down by the progressive 61 year-old.
