Defending champions Selangor continued their excellent scoring form, yet again winning by a four goal margin following the thrashing of Kedah in the Super League at the weekend, with Premier League's Pos Malaysia being the latest victims in a 5-1 away win at Selayang, during the first leg of their FA Cup Quarter-Final.

The goalspree began with skipper Amri Yahyah slotting past goalkeeper Shahruddin Ismail inside the box, after 22 minutes, and then doubling it five minutes later, latching on to a loose ball from Shahruddin's fumble off Amirulhadi Zainal's cross.  In form Safee Sali, got into the scoring act to give K.Devan's side a 3-0 lead at the break with his strike four minutes from the breather, off Amri's pass down the left.

Subsitute Rudie Ramli, who replaced Amri, also helped himself to a brace, scoring in the 69th and 78th minute, with Khairul Zal Azmi obtaining a consolation goal in between (77th), for Lim Kok Onn's beaten side, taking advantage of some lax defending by the Red Giants.

PLUS FC 1 NEGERI SEMBILAN

Nizaruddin Yusuff returned just in time from his groin injury to score what may prove to be KL PLUS' most important victory of the season, a slender 1-0 lead from an FA Cup quarterfinal first leg victory against Malaysia Cup champions Negeri Sembilan.

Despite being the Malaysian league pre-season's biggest spenders, KL PLUS has so far belied the dark favorites tag garlanded upon them with some wasteful performances on the pitch, third from bottom and without a win since the opening day of the season. No Azi Shahril tonight either, and Negeri Sembilan quickly grabbed hold of the midfield,  an unmarked Idris Karim in the 17th minute wasting a point blank header over the bar from a freekick on the right from Shaurain Abu.

In marked contrast to Negeri Sembilan's utilization of tricky flankers in the form of S. Kunalan and Shaurain Abu, PLUS' stubborn, one-dimensional insistence in pumping the ball to last season's Golden Boot winner Nizaruddin saw the ball quickly rid away by Aidil Zafuan and Shukor Adan back to their midfield department, and they so nearly got their just rewards in the 32nd minute after Kunalan's squared pass from the right was flicked by Zaquan Adha to a mistimed lunge by Firdaus Azizul at far post.

A 43rd minute counterattack led by KL PLUS' Fazrul Hazly saw S. Sumindran whip a shot across the face of goal in a 3 against 2 situation for the hosts, but aside from that episode, the Deers were desperately pushing the green shirts against the ropes, goalkeeper Faizal Rashid surviving an apparent handball outside the box snuffing out a 54th minute shot from Zaquan Adha after being put clear through from an Idris Karim throughball.

Wan Jamak switches to a three man backline with Shukor Adan adding to the numbers in midfield, and so nearly again the nets finally danced for Negri Sembilan, Zaquan's impish 65th minute one touch squaring it for Firdaus, free again only for him to shoot frustratingly into the side netting.

National skipper Norhafiz Zamani and partner Irwan Fadzli's litres of sweat poured in the tireless protection of their goal finally got their rewards just as it looked to be a scoreless draw, KL PLUS's substitute Badrul Hisani exchanging a 1-2 with Lot Abu before finding Nizaruddin Yusuff from the middle to slot his finish between Negeri Sembilan keeper Farizal Harun's legs and into goal. KL PLUS coach Mat Zan, with the threat of the sack looming large upon his head, must have then known what it feels like to have escaped from hell itself.

KEDAH 1 ATM 1

Treble winners in 2007 and 2008, Kedah, continued to disappoint in front of their Alor Setar faithful, when they were unexpectedly held to a 1-1 draw against Premier League's Armed Forces.

Kedah have been in quite a rut with their results at home, and the salvation they were looking for in the form of a convincing victory after the debacle in Shah Alam a few days earlier that saw them being hammered 4-0 by Selangor, simple did not come. Instead the poor result made the boo boys cries for the sacking of Ahmad Yusof, even louder.

The pre-match hype of two former teammates during their playing days for Pahang, coaching opposite sides failed to spark the tie in the opening half, but it came to life in the second period.

Khairul Helmi Johari got the Canaries ahead in the 54th minute, but the lead only lasted 8 minutes until V.Saravanan's penalty conversion, after national defender Sabree Abu's alleged handball, evened the scores for Zulhamizan Zakaria's military outfit.

The match then turned ugly when Kedah's top goalgetter Azlan Ismail bore his frustrations on the referee, that led to his dismissal.

T-TEAM FC 3 TERENGGANU 1

The top billing of the night belonged to the Kuala Terengganu derby, between Super League sides, T-Team FC and Terengganu.

The high flying Turtles once again failed to get the better of their newly promoted crosstown rivals, but this time they fared even worst, losing 1-3 in the first leg of the FA Cup quarter-final.

Terengganu boy, Haris Safwan, last season's Premier League top scorer, returned to haunt his former employers by scoring the opener for T-Team on the 9th minute of play.

Abdul Hadi Yahya extended Che Ku Marzuki' side's lead half an hour later from the spot capitalising on Muhaimin Omar's handball, and Irfan Bakti's boys were almost dead and buried when Hadi made it 3-0 in the 59th minute.

However, Terengganu obtained an important lifeline to carry on the fight into the second leg, in a fortnight, with Tengku Hasbullah's consolation goal in the final minute of play.
