The Kuwaiti defender has also been issued a hefty fine, as confirmed by the Asian Football Confederation in a statement that read:
“The AFC Disciplinary Committee has suspended Kazma’s Khaled Al Shammari for eight matches for spitting at opponents during their AFC Cup opener against Al Jaish on February 24.
Apart from the suspension, the player has also been ordered to pay a fine of USD 3000.”
Al Shammari received his marching orders for spitting at an Al Jaish player before spitting at another opponent when leaving the field.
