Everyone Wants To Play For Persepolis - Ali Daei
The new coach is delighted with his side’s recent form…
By Rupert Fryer
Coach Ali Daei has claimed that a majority of Iranian players dream of turning out for his club Persepolis.
“To play for Persepolis is a dream for 90 per cent of the Iranian players. This means we are a big club and we have to meet expectations,” Daei told Tehran Times.
The former Iranian international who scored over 100 goals for his country during a glittering career was appointed coach of the Red Army last December and went on to put his side’s recent good form down to a new found discipline.
“Persepolis is playing better than it did in the past two years. Discipline is the most important factor in my team, and undisciplined players face suspension from playing,” he said.
Daei’s team currently sit in third place in the Iran Pro-League following their 2-1 victory over Esteghlal, which was the club’s third straight victory, but the former Bayern striker insisted his side would not be getting carried away.
“We have put aside our victory over our rival. Now Persepolis is concentrating on the next matches,” he concluded.
