South Korean international Kim Dong-Jin has been granted medical clearance to return to football and has signed for Ulsan Hyundai.

The 28-year old has been out of the game since October after collapsing when he arrived for training with the South Korean national team, reportedly caused by circulation problems in his brain.

Capped 59 times by his country, Kim was released by Russian Premier League side Zenit St. Petersburg on January 26th on medical grounds.

A club statement read, “Today FC Zenit has denounced the contract with Korean defender Kim Dong-Jin. This decision was based on results of the medical examinations, which prevent Kim from fulfilling the contract.”

However, there was some good news for Kim this week as AFC medical official Dr. Yoon Yong-Sul has given the left-back the all clear to make his K-League return.

“I did a check-up on him and performed some thorough tests. And he is fine to play,” he told the AFC website.

Kim was clearly delighted to be given the green light to continue his football career and confirmed he was hoping to get back onto the international scene.

“I will prove myself on the pitch and am aiming to get into the Korean World Cup squad,” he said.
