For Claude Le Roy, Oman’s 1-0 defeat in Australia last month still
rankles but the coach and his players have an early opportunity to get revenge
on Saturday in Muscat in their 2011 Asian Cup qualifier.
The Socceroos went top of the group above Oman on goal difference but Le Roy hopes that the result will be different in the return match.
"We lost the previous match against Australia 1-0 but on Saturday we want to avenge this defeat," said the Frenchman according to the-afc.com.
"I'm confident that our players have what it takes to win the game.
"We will be without Ahmed Mubarak due to a knee injury but his absence will not affect us as we have several players who can fill the gap. I hope that the players will give their all in the game.
"My main aim is to have all the players concentrating during the game and get a positive result. Having a good result will definitely give us a lot of confidence and strengthen our chances to qualify.
"If we want to win the game, we must not be afraid of Australia. In the previous game we wanted to win the game but we were not lucky and we want to avenge that defeat on Saturday."
