Aussie Star Mark Milligan Set For Shanghai Shenhua
Australia's Olympic captain is set to join one of Chinese football's powerhouse clubs.
Shanghai Shenua are ready to snap up Mark Milligan, the Socceroo defender, from Newcastle Jets.
The 23-year-old is set to leave for China on Monday to undergo a medical, and, assuming he passes, he will join the club that finished as runners-up in last season’s Chinese Super League.
“Obviously our club would have loved to have kept a player of Mark’s talent for the duration of his contracted period but a player of that ability and with a desire to further his career overseas is always going to attract strong attention from other clubs,” said Jets chief executive officer John Tsatsimas.
“The opportunity that was presented to us by Shanghai Shenhua was one that we could not turn down, and whilst it is unfortunate to see Mark depart, we also hope that he fulfils his dream of furthering his career abroad as he has wanted to do for some time.”
