The big-money summer recruit from Aston Villa has recently been displaced in Jurgen Klopp's first-choice XI by false No.9 Roberto Firmino, instead being used to spearhead the academy-heavy sides fielded in the cup competitions.
And on the basis of his latest showing, it could be a while before Benteke forces his way back into the starting XI after he missed several good chances, struggled to hold up the ball and fluffed a glorious one-on-one opportunity.
