VIDEO: David Beckham On Galaxy's First Place Finish

David Beckham spoke at length about how the Galaxy have turned things around to make the playoffs, his role as a team elder, and why he hasn't yet shaved his beard.

David Beckham - LA Galaxy (Grazia Neri)
CARSON, Calif. -- David Beckham is in playoffs of Major League Soccer for the first time - and with a bit of a bang, as the Los Angeles Galaxy clinched the top seed in the Western Conference with a victory over the San Jose Earthquakes.

Though he didn't score in the win, the midfielder was a key part of the Galaxy's effort, keying several important plays.

In recognition of his tireless work, the sold-out crowd at the Home Depot Center gave Beckham a standing ovation.

That behavior seems to put the rest the controversy that dogged Beckham when he spend the first part of the season with AC Milan. Though some Galaxy fans resented his absence, they have now apparently forgiven and forgotten and rallied behind Beckham's performance to push the Galaxy to the playoffs.
