David Beckham spent the second half of the Serie A season playing at Milan, with whom he was initially meant to spend just two months with.
After thoroughly enjoying
his time with the Rossoneri, playing alongside the likes of Kaka, Ronaldinho,
Andrea Pirlo and Paolo Maldini, the Englishman decided to
extend his loan deal and play out the remainder of the
season in Italy, much to the anger of his LA Galaxy supporters.
Consequently, banners and T-shirts were made signifying that 'Golden Balls' was a traitor
and that the team's supporters didn’t want him to return.
Having said this though, the
34-year-old is set to make a comeback shortly, and he is a little wary of the reaction he might receive.
“I understand why I
extended my stay at Milan, and I hope they do as well,” Beckham affirmed in an
interview with the Los Angeles Times.
“I hope that they will
be sympathetic when I return, but you can never be sure.”
In short, it will be
certainly be difficult for Beckham to regain the hearts of his American fans,
especially considering the fact that he has already made clear his desire to return
