FCD's Sikora Out 4-6 Weeks
Injured over the weekend, the former Dutch international limps off to the training room.
Victor Sikora arrived at Pizza Hut Park a few weeks ago and slid right
into the FC Dallas starting lineup. He made two consecutive starts. But
that appears to be his last action for a while. On Monday, an MRI
showed that the Dutch midfielder had a torn meniscus in his right knee
and will be out of action for 4-6 weeks.
He picked up the injury during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Kansas City, coming out on the wrong end of a tackle by Wizards midfielder Sasha Victorine in the 47th minute. A few minutes later, Sikora was subbed out and replaced by rookie Eric Avila.
After training with Dallas for a period, Sikora joined the club officially a few weeks ago, just as the club was in the ascendency. The team had won twice in a row and looked like one of the most dangerous sides in the Western Conference.
But in Sikora's two starts -- his only appearances -- the Hoops have fallen to Columbus and then conceded a stoppage-time equalizer to K.C.
No word yet on how this will affect the coach Schellas Hyndman's starting eleven. FCD welcome Columbus on Saturday night, and in addition to Sikora's absence, will be without midfielder Pablo Ricchetti, who received a red card against the Wizards.
