Goal.com MLS Rankings: Matchday 21
As he does every week, Goal.com's Kyle McCarthy puts the MLS teams in their rightful places.
1. Houston – Knock New England out of the top spot for one reason: Have not lost in a competitive game since June 12. (3)
2. Columbus – Is Pat Noonan's best spot wide left? (2)
3. New England – Must get healthy and get Badilla involved ASAP. (1)
4. Real Salt Lake – Depth moves will continue to help them as the season progresses. (4)
5. Chicago – Shows a peculiar tendency to drop unnecessary points. (5)
6. D.C. United – Results are sometimes more important than performances. (7)
7. FC Dallas – Assured performance, even in a loss, shows the Hoops may have enough to compete. (8)
8. New York – Must take this home form and bring it on the road. (10)
9. Chivas USA – Probably deserved three points, but one isn't bad considering the composition of their team. (9)
10. Toronto FC – Find a striker. Any striker. Preferably one that scores goals. (6)
11. Kansas City – Another lukewarm performance from what is an increasingly lukewarm team. (11)
12. San Jose – The playoffs aren't impossible, not in this Western Conference. (13)
13. Los Angeles – Not convinced that things will get better if Bruce Arena walks into town. (12)
14. Colorado – Bold lineup changes sparked victory over Kansas City. (14)
