Former Olympique Lyonnais and Portsmouth boss Alain Perrin appointed Qatar Olympic coach
The Frenchman has taken up the national team role with senior boss Paulo Autuori needing to focus on final round 2014 World Cup qualifiers
Frenchman Alain Perrin has been confirmed as the new coach of the Qatar Olympic national team following Paulo Autuori's promotion to the senior job.The 55-year-old former Olympique Lyonnais, Portsmouth and Marseille boss has recently been coaching Al Khor in Qatar.
The Qatar Football Association (QFA) confirmed the appointment on Sunday, with Perrin to commence his duties once he has completed his commitments with Al Khor in the Gulf Clubs Championships.
Perrin's first task will be to lead the team in friendlies against UAE on June 5 and 7 ahead of the AFC Under-22 qualifiers in Malaysia.
Autuori has been doubling up his duties as senior and Olympic coach after taking over the national team reigns in February following Sebastiao Lazaroni's dismissal in December.
Meanwhile, the Qatari national team are continuing their camp in Madrid ahead of their friendly against Albania on Tuesday. The game is being used a preparation for their opening final round 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
