Al Ain 'very confident' of securing permanent deal for Sunderland's Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan
The on-loan Ghanaian forward netted 22 goals in all competitions for the UAE champions and they are bullish on completing a deal to keep him at the club permanently

The 26-year-old Ghanaian has been a revelation in UAE since joining the club on loan from Sunderland, netting 22 goals in all competitions as Al Ain clinched the Pro-League title.
Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill recently said it could be unlikely Gyan would return to the club, while the player himself admitted on the weekend he is happy at Al Ain.
It is understood, Al Ain have a €3.5million option to buy the former Udinese and Rennes man outright from the Black Cats.
“I’m very confident that he will be staying,” Nohra told Sport360°. “He has indicated on a number of occasions that he would like to remain at the club.
"There is a loan agreement that we need to work out with Sunderland, but what is really important is that the player wants to be here and we would like to keep him. So now it’s about working out the logistics of a transfer.
"That doesn’t mean it’s going to happen, but the seeds are there for us to ensure that this becomes a long-term deal.”
Nohra added he had the utmost confidence in Al Ain chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan and the board of directors to keep the title-winning side together.
“I’m sure the president as well as the senior management and the board of the directors will do whatever they feel is necessary to preserve the pedigree of the club, irrespective of what was achieved," he said.
“They adopted the same approach last year when we were at the other end of the table, and through their vision and insight to bring in this coach and the players, they turned things around.
"So, moving forward I’m sure they would want to build on the success of this season and will take whatever decisions are necessary.”
