Team Melli are firming up their preparations for their World Cup qualifiers which begin in June with a series of friendlies in April and May

The Football Federation of Iranian (FFIRI) has announced a friendly between Team Melli and Mozambique will take place at Tehran's Azadi Stadium on May 2.

Iranian news agency ISNA has reported the announcement which will see Carlos Queiroz's side take on the nation of his birth.

Iran will use the game as preparation for their fourth round 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifiers which begin in June.

According to the report, the FFIRI turned down the possibility of playing Iraq in a friendly on May 1 in order to face Mozambique.

Mozambique, who finished third in Group C at the 2012 African Cup of Nations, are currently coached by Gert Engels and ranked 106th in the world.

Iran are firming up their World Cup qualifying plans with a friendly scheduled against UAE on April 17 in Dubai, while there's talks of a clash against Kuwait too.

Team Melli begin their fourth round World Cup qualifying campaign away to Uzbekistan in Tashkent on June 3.
