FIFA Lift Suspension On Iraq Football Association

The Iraq Football Association (IFA) has been readmitted the global football family by FIFA.

The governing body has lifted the ban on the IFA that was imposed in November 2009 after allegations of governmental interference in the sport.

FIFA has demanded that the IFA’s members that had been dismissed from the body be reinstated.

It is good news for football in the West Asian nation. Iraqi clubs had been denied the chance to play in the 2010 Asian Champions League and the ban also meant that aid from overseas, earmarked to help the domestic game, was stopped from getting through.

FIFA declared that the statutes of the Iraqi FA will be reorganized at the end of May and voted on in July.
