Saudi Arabia: First Loss For Al Ittihad; Al Hilal Win Again
The Saudi season is getting in to its stride...
Al Ittihad have suffered their
first league defeat at the season.
The defeated Asian Champions League finalists lost 1-0 against Al Shabab.
After the Jeddah club started the season with five straight wins, a goal from Al Shabab’s Libyan midfielder Tarek El Taib nine minutes before half-time settled the match for the team in second place.
The defeat puts Al Ittihad down to third in the league, ten points behind leaders and bitter rivals Al Hilal though Ittihad have three games in hand because of their continental commitments.
Al Hilal maintained their fantastic start to the season with a 2-0 win at Al Ettifaq.
Yasser Al Qahtani opened the scoring with a header in the first half and Christian Wilhelmsson sealed the win in the second half.
The win gives Al Hilal 25 points from their first nine games of the season.
