UAE: Abd Rabo Pledges Future To Al Ahli

Al Ahli’s Egyptian midfielder Hosny Abd Rabo on Wednesday insisted he has no plans to leave the United Arab Emirates (UAE) league outfit for a lucrative move to Europe.

Rabo was on the receiving end of boos from the Al Ahli faithful in last Saturday’s league match against Al Jazira.

Al Ahli were 1-0 winners over Al Jazira. After the game, he expressed his disappointment over their actions and pleaded for patience.

“I just don’t why they’re shouting slogans at me,” the Egypt international told Gulf News.

"This is my first season with Al Ahli and I need time to gel with the team. So far, I think I am doing well and will do better in the coming matches.”

Abd Rabo clinched the Best Player award in the African Nations Cup in February and joined Al Ahli from Egyptian side El-Ismaily on a two year loan in July.

He has previously played in France for Strasbourg for two seasons – making 22 appearances between 2005 and 2007.

The 23-year-old however, denied knowledge of offers from Premiership side Blackburn Rovers or Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor.

"I have a two-year contract with Al Ahli and I do not know anything about these offers," Abd Rabo explained.

Al Ahli officials also brushed aside reports linking their player to Blackburn or Trabzonspor during the January transfer window – saying Abd Rabo remains an integral player in the team.
