Nazmi Faiz picks up his first silverware with Beira-Mar
The Malaysian wonderkid picked up his first piece of silverware with Beira-Mar after a 4-3 penalty shootout win over Oliveirense
Wonderkid Nazmi Faiz picked up his first piece of silverware since joining Portuguese side Beira-Mar after a penalty shootout victory over Oliveirense for the Fornos de Algodres trophy in Portugal on Wednesday.Beira-Mar recorded a 4-3 penalty shootout victory over second division side Oliveirense after the match ended in a 0-0 draw in 90 minutes of play.
Nazmi played as a first-half substitute coming on in the 30th minute in his third appearance for the club since making his debut in last week’s draw against Deportivo De Tondela before coming off as a substitute against Benfica ‘B’ in a 3-1 defeat.
Although the ‘trophy’ was nothing more than a pre-season preparation campaign, the win is integral to Nazmi’s amalgamation into the team.
This news will surely appease Malaysian football fans as their wonderkid is settling well in Portugal. The 17-year-old midfielder became the first Malaysian footballer to play for a top flight European football club.
