The Malaysian youngster kick-started his European career as a second-half substitute against Deportivo de Tondela
Nazmi’s second half-cameo lasted for 20 minutes in a game that ended 1-1. According to prominent Malaysian newspaper, New Straits Times, Nazmi also played in another game after that against Benfica ‘B’, again as a substitute.
His club manager Ulisses Morais was reportedly satisfied with the Malaysian youngster’s performance.
“We will continue to give match exposure to our youngsters and those who impress will definitely get a chance to play for our first team,” he said according to New Straits Times.
The club that finished 12th in the league last season took the lead in the game through Batatinha before Mario Sousa equalised for the opposition. Beira-Mar’s next pre-season game is against second division side UD Oliveirense on July 25.
Nazmi, 17, became the first Malaysian footballer to play for a top flight European club after he was spotted by Beira-Mar’s scouts during Malaysia’s Olympic qualifiers early this year.
