Timor Leste Are Ready For SEA Games
The regional minnows are looking forward to action...
Timor Leste are ready for anything at the SEA Games in Laos next month
and they are savouring their opening match in Group A against Malaysia
at the newly-built National Stadium in Vientiane on December 2.
Timor Leste Football Federation (LTFF) president Francisco Kabualdi said that the team had never paid much emphasis in wanting to play against which opponent or avoiding the others.
“The important thing is that at the SEA Games, we participate with our ASEAN brothers. Timor are always ready,” said Francisco.
“We are new and we are a small country and we want to learn from the family. The team only had some two months of training and they played only local matches.
“We will head to Vientiane a little early, possibly on 28 November. But we will not be playing any games there but just prepare to play Malaysia. I hope that we can make the semi-finals.”
Following the Timor Leste-Malaysia match, defending champions Thailand will open their campaign against Vietnam later the same day at the same venue.
The opening match in Group B will be played only on 5 December and will be Singapore taking on Indonesia while hosts Laos will play Myanmar, who were the silver medallist two years ago in Thailand.
Group A: Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Timor Leste, Cambodia
