Indonesia Have Busy Summer Ahead

There is no rest for the south-east Asians...
The eight-nation Merdaka Cup due to be held in Malaysia may have been cancelled due to the H1N1 virus situation, but there is still lots of football to come for Indonesia.

An Indonesian select XL take on Manchester United on July 20 in Jakarta before two friendlies against Malaysia lead up to an August 15 match with China.

Indonesia are preparing for two vital 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers with Kuwait in November.

According to general manager Demis Djamaoedin, all the preparation matches will be held in Indonesia.

“The schedule is still uncertain, but Malaysia gave us dates between August 5 and August 8. The game will be held in Indonesia,” Demis told local media.

“We also have yet to know whether it will be one match or two matches. The association will decide the exact date and place.”

Coach Benny Dollo is happy to have games to go with his training camp.

“We now have tryouts scheduled, and it’s good for us as we have to prepare for Kuwait,” Benny said.
