Singapore: Player Of The Year Nominations
2007 NTUC Income Player of the Year Aleksandar Duric has once again been nominated for this year’s award. Together with last year’s Player of the Year nominee and team mate Therdsak Chaiman, the Warriors look to have another successful haul in the 13th NTUC Income – YEO’S S.League Awards Night which will be held at Orchard Hotel on Tuesday, 18 November.

The Warriors, who won six awards in last year’s Awards Ceremony, will be seeking to add to their already burgeoning display shelf. Duric and Chaiman have been nominated in the NTUC Income Player of the Year Award together with Richard Bok and Shaiful Esah who have been nominated in the Mikasa Coach of the Year and YEO’S Young Player of the Year Awards respectively.
Duric and Chaiman face stiff competition from Home United’s Kengne Ludovick, who has already scored more than 20 goals and Super Reds’ Joo Ki Hwan, who spearheaded the Koreans’ spectacular title challenge this season.
Since his move from Young Lions to Tampines Rovers during the midseason transfer window, Khairul Amri has grown from strength to strength. His 18 goals and all round attacking displays have him as the only player to be nominated for both the Player and Young Player of the Year Awards.
He will face intense competition from Gombak United’s Ojimi Gabriel Obatola who has notched 15 goals for his club. Ismail Yunos and Obadin Aikhena, both from Young Lions, round off the list of nominees for the Young Player of the Year Award.
Richard Bok, the 2007 Coach of the Year, will be looking to make it three in a row as he has again been nominated for this year’s award together with Home United’s P.N. Sivaji, Jorg Steinebrunner of Woodlands Wellington, Hiroaki Hiraoka of Albirex Niigata and Vorawan Chitavanich from Tampines Rovers.
