Singapore: SAFFC Held By Geylang
Singapore Armed Forces drew 2-2 with Geylang United on Tuesday despite striker Aleksandar Duric scoring a brace.
The match was an ill-tempered affair which saw three players receiving their marching orders in the match.
Geylang drew first blood when Noor Ali fired his team ahead on 17 minutes. But SAFFC forward Aleksandar Duric equalised for the Warriors in the 50th minute.
The Eagles however, regained their lead when Brazilian striker Rivaldo Costa netted in the 60th minute.
Again, it was Duric who saved the blushes for the defending champions as he sealed a point for SAFFC with his 81st minute strike.
SAFFC’s Hafiz Osman and Mustaqim Manzur and Geylang’s Rivaldo Costa were sent off in second-half stoppage time for their lack of sportsmanship.
With the draw, SAFFC now lead second-placed Home United on 52 points, two more than their fellow AFC Cup quarter-finalist.
