The final day of the regular season in South Korea was full of drama, controversy and great goals.

Jeonbuk Motors sealed first place and a place in the play-off final and have the luxury of waiting to see which of the other five teams will join them.

The Jeonju-club defeated Gyeongnam FC 4-2 and, for the second successive season, prevented their opponents from finishing in the top six.

Two goals from Lee Dong-gook did the damage. The brace came in eight minutes at the end of the first half as the striker moved on to 20 goals for the season.

“I am so happy,” said the former Middlesbrough man after the match. “It is great to finish first but it is not time to celebrate as now we have just two games to prepare for.”

“I set myself a target of 15-20 goals before the start of the season and it is great to get there. I hope I can do the same next season.”

Pohang Steelers may have an Asian Champions League final to prepare on Saturday but they moved into second with a 1-0 win over Suwon Bluewings, thereby qualifying for the 2010 edition of the continental competition.

The Steelers move above FC Seoul who were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Chunnam Dragons. The day was all about Seoul striker Dejan Damjanovic.

The Montenegrin marksman missed a second half penalty and redeemed himself 13 minutes from time by shooting into the top corner from 25 yards.

His celebration included throwing his shirt on the pitch in front of the Chunnam bench and he was soon red carded.

Seongnam Ilhwa and Incheon United booked their places in the play-offs with wins against Daegu and Busan I’Park respectively.

Elsewhere, Gangwon FC won 1-0 at Jeju United while Daejeon Citizen defeated Gwangju 3-1.

1: Jeonbuk  57   2: Pohang 53    3: Seoul  53     4: Seongnam 45     5: Incheon 43    6: Chunnam 42
