Kashina Antlers have finally returned to winning ways to return to the top of the J-league with four games to go.

One point from the last six matches had seen Kashima’s healthy lead cut and then overtaken by Kawasaki Frontale.

A 3-0 win over JEF United on Saturday as put the champions back in pole position.

Kawasaki can reclaim first by defeating Sanfrecce Hiroshima on Sunday.

Shinzo Koroki gave Kashima an early lead and then goals from Marquinhos and Yuzo Tashiro sealed the win.

Kashima coach Oswaldo Oliveira was relieved after the three point haul and confident that it would signal a fresh start for his team.

"This was important for us," he said. "We have a new atmosphere with only four games left. We have our confidence back. I think this will give us more energy, more power, more strength to look forward and try to win our next four matches."

Kashima won their last two titles with late surges.

"I always say to the players that for the last two years we played and won several matches at the end of the league, and we have the experience to do this again," he said.

"That will help, no doubt about it. All the time I make them remember what happened."

Gamba Osaka missed a chance to go second after a goalless draw with Yokohama F Marinos.

Oita Trinita’s relegation was confirmed as they drew 1-1 with Kyoto Sanga and Kashiwa Reysol are in danger after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Montedio Yamagata.
