Kashima coach Oswaldo Oliveira was relieved after the three point haul and confident that it would signal a fresh start for his team.
"This was important for us," he said. "We have a new atmosphere with only four games left. We have our confidence back. I think this will give us more energy, more power, more strength to look forward and try to win our next four matches."
Kashima won their last two titles with late surges.
"I always say to the players that for the last two years we played and won several matches at the end of the league, and we have the experience to do this again," he said.
"That will help, no doubt about it. All the time I make them remember what happened."

Oita Trinita’s relegation was confirmed as they drew 1-1 with Kyoto Sanga and Kashiwa Reysol are in danger after a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Montedio Yamagata.
