Japanese Starlet Yuya Osaka Tipped For 2010 World Cup
He is only 18, but great things are expected of the young forward...
Kashima Antlers coach Oswaldo Oliveira believes that his
teenage striking sensation, Yuya Osako, has what it takes to play at the 2010
World Cup.
The 18-year-old has been impressing for the Japanese champions in both the J-League and the Asian Champions League, scoring four goals in total already this season.
Since turning professional at the start of the year, the youngster has impressed Oliveira, who believes that he has a bright future.
When he was asked recently if Takeshi Okada, the Japan coach, had been on the phone to ask about Osako, Oliveira said, "No but I think he will soon.
"I think this player will be in the World Cup.
"Pele played at the World Cup when he was 17. Here in Japan everybody says we don't have strikers, but if he continues these performances he is a good bet.
"We have some players in Brazil who look like his style of play. He is not any better than I expected — that is why he starts the games."
