China:Coach Petrovic Leaves National Team
Vladamir Petrovic has left his post as coach of the Chinese national team after the China Football Association (CFA) decided not to renew his contract.
China crashed out of qualification for the 2010 World Cup in June, finishing bottom of Group One.
The Serbian’s one-year contract ended earlier this week and Petrovic, who took Dalian Shide to the 2005 Chinese Super League title, was disappointed to leave his post.
“I won’t forget the time I have spent coaching in China,” Petrovic told reporters.
“Elimination from the World Cup left me very sad but I have had many (positive) emotions which I appreciate.
“The time I have had here was too short to change anything and maybe I could have done better if I had enough time.”
Towards the end of his tenure, Petrovic was often seen as the number two coach below Olympic team boss Ratomir Dujkovic.
