There are rumours that striker Theofanis Gekas is unhappy with his back-up role playing behind hot shots Patrick Helmes and Stefan Kießling and may be seeking a move in the January transfer window.
Leverkusen’s first choice replacement would be Eren Derdiyok from FC Basel, but his transfer fee of 8 million could provide a barrier to any such move unless the Swiss club are willing to drop their price.
If they refuse to budge, Bayer appear to have a cheaper alternative lined up with Brazilian forward Adeilson on their radar.
The 23 year old currently plies his trade with first division Ipatanga and with Bayer’s past record with Brazilians, a move could well be on the cards.
The Bundesliga side already have both Renato Augusto and Henrique in their squad, although Henrique is only on a loan deal from Barcelona.
