Völler Blasts Bayer Showoffs

Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Völler was not a happy camper after watching his side give up a 3-0 lead at the Wildparkstadion to Karlsruhe essentially accusing his players of a damning mixture of naiveté and arrogance.

The Werkself soared to a 3-0 lead within the opening half an hour following goals from Helmes, Kiessling, and Kadlec.  However, a fightback from the home side saw them score three unanswered goals themselves to secure a quite sensational 3-3 draw.

"We were too naive," seethed Völler after the match. "We wanted to show off to our opponents and helped bring them back into the game."

Despite the needlessly dropped points, Bayer will go into round 13 leading the league on goal difference following Hoffenheim's 1-0 loss away to Hertha Berlin.
