Credit to the 24-year-old, he insisted on postponing the operation until after the weekend, so that he could help his side through a hectic week which will be capped by Friday night's Bundesliga fixture at home to VfL Wolsburg.
There has been no indication of how long Haggui will be out for, but he is not expected to be available for the next few rounds at least as he will be operated on both groins.
Leverkusen currently stand second in the Bundesliga after 10 games played.
