German Denis' agent, Leo Rodriguez, has revealed that the Napoli hit-man snubbed the chance to join Real Madrid.
Los Merengues have plugged the gap in their attacking department by signing Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on Tuesday, but their objective before the Dutchman was Denis.
The Argentine is quickly becoming one of football's hottest properties - but a move to Real went cold.
“Did Real Madrid ask for Denis? Well, we received an important call from Spain,” the agent told Radio Kiss Kiss.
“All I can say is that a very big team asked Napoli for him but the club said he was not for sale.
“In any case, Denis has no intention of leaving. He has been here just three months and he loves Napoli.
“Denis has scored some important goals even if at times he has not been first choice for Napoli. He can give more but to do so he needs to play.”
Although Real may not need him, the Argentinean striker still remains a target for many clubs - but Napoli have always maintained their tough stance on a possible exit.
