Napoli attempted a comeback at the San Siro, but fell 2-1 against the Nerazzurri in a hard fought match.
Napoli sporting director is still pleased with his squad though and insists that the Partenopei have progressed in recent times.
"The team played slightly better than they did last year, when they lost with the same result," he said. "We have mature players who can play very well against teams like Inter. I can only be grateful to the boys, as they have improved so much. We need to improve, but you can't really criticise them and we are not in any crisis."
The transfer guru then spoke about Napoli's ambitions for this season: "We think a placement that will get us into the UEFA Cup is a good showing for us."
Napoli currently sit in fourth place in the Serie A standings. To gain an automatic berth into the UEFA Cup, they must finish between fifth and seventh.
