However, he is quick to point out that this was the club's target from the outset.
"From the first day that I arrived here, I believed and hoped that we could build a new resurgence," declared the Partenopei's goalkeeper. "This is the best reward for me.
"If I look back, it's crazy to realize where we have arrived after just a few seasons. For me it's a huge joy and an immense satisfaction.
"I'm a Napoli fan and I'm playing for my favourite team. I could not ask for more."
Iezzo will be celebrating his 100th match for Napoli against his former side Cagliari.
"It was an important piece of my past," he explained. "At Cagliari I still have many friends and I'm thankful towards the club.
"It will surely be a particular game in every respect, but what matters most is the importance this game has for the team.
"We're coming from a strange defeat at Bergamo and even today I can't explain what happened. We could have easily drawn, but now we look forward and there is a great will to climb up straight away."
The 35-year-old goalkeeper played for the Rossoblu during the 2003-05 seasons, before joining the Partenopei in 2006.
