Napoli easily handled Salernitana in their Coppa Italia match-up on Wednesday. The Partenopei ran out 3-1 winners at the Stadio San Paolo over the Serie B side.
Napoli got off to a quick start, thanks to an own goal and another strike from Brazilian Inacio Pia, to take a 2-0 lead in the first 25 minutes and Azzurri coach Edy Reja believes that was a key part of the victory.
"My team did well to close the game early even if Salernitana were fairly closed themselves," he began.
Napoli rested several of their first team members and Reja commented on their performances: "It is obvious that there are priorities (with regards to who plays), but all the substitutes can find space in the league."
Napoli now face the winner of the tie between Juventus and Catania in the next round of the Coppa Italia.
"We'll see if the Bianconeri have any interest in progressing. Whoever we play does not matter, the important thing is to be in good condition when we play them," explained the former Cagliari coach.
Napoli next official match is on Sunday against Atalanta, as they look to continue their fine form and remain near the top of the Serie A standings.
