The Rossoneri brought back Christian Abbiati this summer after his loan spell with Spanish side Atlético Madrid and the 31-year-old, who was part of the side that won the Scudetto in the 1998-1999 season, has swiftly re-claimed his place between the sticks.
Last season’s duo of Kalac and Dida have been reduced to bit part roles and their adventures at Milanello are drawing to a close, according to Ilcalciomercato.it
The Via Turati scouts are apparently tracking Udinese revelation Handanovic and the San Siro directors could table a considerable bid next summer.
They apparently aim to bring in a trusted understudy to play second fiddle to Abbiati, allowing them to offload the howler-prone duo, who have alternately worn the gloves over the past few seasons.
Slovenian shot-stopper Handanovic has plied his trade in Serie B with Rimini and Treviso and also had a spell with Lazio, before re-joining the Zebrette in 2007. He had already made a brief cameo at the Stadio Friuli during the 2004-2005 campaign.
