According to reports, Rovers boss Paul Ince has identified the former Liverpool man as a solution to his crippling defensive woes.
The Lancashire side have shipped 28 goals to this point, more than any other club in the Premier League, and are placed 19th in the table.
Finnan has featured only twice for the Catalan side since making a switch from Liverpool on transfer deadline day, as injury has restricted his involvement.
The Irish international is set for a further three weeks on the sidelines due to a slight fracture on his right leg. The 32-year-old had only just regained fitness following a muscle strain.
Finnan has allegedly struggled to settle at the club, and may be set for a quick return to the Premier League.
