Villarreal have held talks in London with Tottenham Hotspur about a possible deal to sign Roman Pavlyuchenko either on loan or for fee that will be paid over a number of years.
The Yellow Submarine are keen on the Russian striker as they look to bolster their front line following the sale of Nihat Kahveci back to Besiktas last week.
Reports had suggested that Villarreal had made contact with Tottenham, but now they have followed that up by flying to England to meet with the north London club face-to-face.
Jose Manuel Llaneza, the Spanish league team's technical secretary, headed the party and spoke to officials from the White Hart Lane outfit about a possible deal, the Daily Mail report.
Tottenham are believed to want to recoup the majority of the £13.8 million they paid Spartak Moscow for the player last summer, but Villarreal have put forward only £8.5 million.
While a compromise of £10 million could be put forward, a deal that could see Pavlyuchenko go on loan to El Madrigal for a season with a view to making the move permanent next summer.
