Vermaelen suffers hamstring injury

Thomas Vermaelen has been ruled out of Barcelona's Champions League clash with APOEL after suffering a hamstring injury.

The defender has not played a single minute for the Spanish side following his move to Camp Nou from Arsenal because of inuries and will have to wait even longer to make his debut for the club.

The Belgium international has struggled with several muscle problems at the Liga side but had resumed training and appeared to be on track to feature for Luis Enrique's side in midweek.

However, the centre-back is struggling with pain in his right hamstring and coach Luis Enrique has ruled him out for the match in Cyprus on Tuesday.

Andres Iniesta has also been excluded from Barca's squad for the meeting with APOEL, as he is yet to be declared fully fit.
