The midfielder is delighted with Atletico Madrid's dream start to the season and says his side can cope with the loss of key players this summerAtletico Madrid midfielder Koke has denied his side's Supercopa victory over Real Madrid was about revenge for last season's Champions League final.
The Spanish champions had looked set to pull off an unlikely result against their city rivals in May, but Carlo Ancelotti's men won in extra-time after a last-second Sergio Ramos equaliser.
Diego Simeone's side got their season off to a dream start, with Mario Mandzukic's goal sealing a 2-1 aggregate win in the first domestic trophy of the season, but Koke is not looking back.
"This isn't about revenge," he is quoted as saying by AS.
"They won the Champions League and now we have won the Supercopa. This has just started. We are very proud of the team and the people."
Atletico lost the likes of Diego Costa and Filipe Luis over the summer but Koke feels that, with the core of last season's Liga-winning team in place, his club have a solid foundation upon which to build.
"It seemed like everything was complicated by the departure of team-mates but we have relied on the basis of the group and the new guys who have come in.
"Look how well we have started - with a title in front of our fans!"
