Adidas standing by Suarez

The striker is currently suspended for biting Giorgio Chiellini - his third such offence in four years - but the sports manufacturer will not be dropping the Uruguayan
Adidas has confirmed that it will continue working with Barcelona star Luis Suarez despite his four-month ban from all football-related activity.

It had been reported that the sports manufacturer was considering cutting its ties with the Uruguay international, who was suspended by Fifa for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during the closing stages of their respective nations' World Cup clash in Natal on June 24.

However, even though this is the third time Suarez has been found guilty of such an offence, Adidas are standing by their client, who has since decided to leave Liverpool for Barca.

"We will continue to work with Luis Suarez," Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer is quoted as saying by SID.

"But we will talk with him and his management about what we expect of him on and off the pitch.

"It's not for nothing that FC Barcelona put him under contract.

"But his behaviour in the match against Italy was not acceptable. That is why the Fifa penalty is justified and you can't sugarcoat that or tolerate it."

Hainer added, though, that Adidas are aware "how much pressure the players in such a World Cup are under," adding that the star had also apologised.

Suarez initially denied any wrongdoing but subsequently issued an apology on Twitter, which was reportedly requested by Barcelona ahead of his move to Camp Nou.
