The former Portugal star has drawn comparisons between the pair and tipped the new boss to restore the club to their former glories
Former Barcelona midfielder Deco is confident new coach Luis Enrique can rejuvenate the club after comparing him with former boss Pep Guardiola.
Barca lost the league title on the final day of the season following a draw at home to Atletico Madrid having been eliminated from the Champions League by Diego Simeone's side and lost the Copa del Rey final to Real Madrid.
Gerardo Martino consequently stepped down as the Catalans' head coach, thus making way for Luis Enrique, and Deco is confident the former Celta de Vigo boss can get Barcelona back to their best.
"Luis Enrique is a young coach who knows Barcelona very well. Hopefully he can get us back to the level we are used to," Deco was quoted as saying by Marca.
"They are different moments, because there were lots of changes with Pep. But with Luis Enrique, I'm seeing something similar to when Guardiola arrived.
"However, we'll have to wait and see if he has that ability to do the same thing and believe in the players so they can get back on top of their game.
"Barca have had a poor season because they haven't won anything, but you can't write off a side which has astounded the world of football with their play and their titles."
Deco wore the Barcelona jersey between 2004 and 2008, winning two Liga titles and the Champions League during his time at the club.
