Barcelona more important than the World Cup for Neymar, says father

The Brazilian is currently sidelined with a foot injury but Neymar Snr. insists the player is desperate to return to action for his club before his attention turns to the summer
Barcelona forward Neymar is fully concentrated on returning to playing for the club and not on the World Cup this summer, according to his father.

The Brazilian is currently sidelined after damaging a metatarsal in his left foot in the Copa del Rey final, ruling him out of action for four weeks.

The 22-year-old stressed at the end of last week that he is aiming to be fully fit for Barca's final Liga game of the season against Atletico Madrid, after admitting he was initially fearful over his hopes of playing for Brazil in the summer showpiece after picking up the problem.

Neymar Snr., however, has maintained his son is only thinking about returning to the first-team fold with the Blaugrana and is not becoming distracted by the World Cup.

"He's sad, because he can't play for many days. We're thinking of Barcelona first and then the World Cup," he is quoted as saying by Deportes Quatro.

"He's doing well, he's getting better."

Neymar has scored 15 goals in 40 appearances in all competitions for Barca this season.
