Barcelona are ready to offer their star forward a new contract, but only after they have settled the situations of the centre-back and Martin Montoya
The Barca president has reiterated that Messi will be offered a new and improved deal that will make him the best paid player in the world again, but only after talks with Montoya and Pique are concluded first.
Messi has been linked with a €250 million switch to PSG in this transfer window but Bartomeu rubbished claims the Argentine would be leaving the club.
"He's not for sale. We’ll sit down without hurry with his father and we'll make him the best paid player because he's the best in the world," Bartomeu told AS.
"But renewing his contract won’t be imminent.
"First it'll be Montoya, which is in the final stages, and then Pique, who we're starting to talk to."
Messi's current contract with Barcelona runs until the summer of 2018, while Montoya's deal expires at the end of the 2013-14 campaign and Pique's is due to end in 2015.
