The veteran midfielder is determined to stay at his current club and has praised coach Gerardo Martino for his good work at BarcaXavi has insisted that he has no intention of leaving Barcelona any time soon as he aims to fulfil his current contract with the club.
The influential midfielder has been heavily linked with MLS outfit New York Red Bulls, while a move to Qatar to end his active career abroad was also believed to be an option for Xavi.
However, the 34-year-old has now made it clear that he wants to stay at Barcelona until he retires.
"I’m not going to Qatar or New York, I want to finish my contract with Barca," Xavi told the official club website.
"I’m staying here, I feel important and useful.
"I’ve been here for many years, there are a lot of memories and we’ve won a lot of titles with this generation of footballers, one look back and you realise that we’ve really enjoyed ourselves."
The Spain international then went on to hail head coach Gerardo Martino's good work at Barca as the Catalans continue to impress.
He added: "Tata is doing an incredible job with the team."
Barcelona sit top in La Liga level with Atletico Madrid on 54 points from 21 games, with Real Madrid a point behind in third.
