"This is a very supportive team, we know what is at stake and we are like a bunch of friends," the striker, 29, told reporters after the game.
"We went into the game intending to play our usual game and we pressing intensely whoever we're playing. Barcelona lost the ball numerous times because of our pressure and we broke them in the game.
"We’ve not known defeat here [at the new San Mames] and hope to continue this aura around our home for the rest of the season."
Athletic moved into the Champions League places after their victory over the Liga holders but Toquero refused to get carried away with talk of Europe just yet, saying that his side are only focusing on what is put in front of them.
"We have to go game by game and now we have the Copa del Rey coming up, which is a great competition."
The Basque club have been handed Celta in the Spanish cup, a tough draw, who they will face next Saturday.
