The Germany international has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona at the end of the season, with Victor Valdes set to leave Camp Nou next summer.
Ter Stegen is also in negotiations with his current club to extend his contract past its current expiry date of June 2015 and Eberl wants to see the saga end.
"We had very good discussions," he revealed to Bild.
"In the end, Marc has to make a decision. There are many advantages that speak for us and Marc has a wise head.
"What is clear is that he eventually has to come to a decision."
Gladbach have enjoyed a solid start to the season and currently sit fourth in the Bundesliga, 10 points off league leaders Bayern Munich.
