Simeone glad Villarreal are back

The Argentine has expressed his delight that the Yellow Submarine are back in the top flight, while at the same time revealing that Diego Costa is a doubt for the game
Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone insists that he is looking forward to facing high-flying Villarreal in La Liga on Sunday.

The Yellow Submarine have made a fine start to life back in the Primera Division and currently sit fourth ahead of the visit of the third-placed Rojiblancos.

Simeone is delighted that Villarreal are back where he believes they belong and is looking forward to the challenge of trying to mastermind a victory at the Madrigal

"I'm glad they’re back in the first division,” the Argentine told a press conference. “They are a club I’ve followed a lot in the last decade.

"They have done well and they have recovered quickly [from relegation] - it speaks highly of the club's leaders.”

Simeone then commented on the possible absence of in-form striker Diego Costa, who was laid low by the flu earlier in the week.

“Diego is better, but we will wait to see how he feels tomorrow [Sunday] and from there take a decision," the former Atletico midfielder explained.

Atletico's clash with Villarreal is scheduled to get under way at 19:00CET.
