thumbnail Hello,

There were calls for the Serbian to step down after Wednesday's shock 2-1 loss to Almeria at Mestalla but the 47-year-old retains the support of the club

Under-fire Valencia boss Miroslav Djukic has been given a vote of confidence by the club's board of directors.

The Serb's position was called into question again after Wednesday's humiliating 2-1 defeat at home to la Liga's basement boys, Almeria, which prompted the Che faithful to get the white handkerchiefs out at full-time.

However, though the Mestalla setback means that 12th-placed Valencia have now won just one of their last five games, Djukic's job is safe.

"The board of directors of Valencia expresses its full support for the players, coach and coaching staff of the first team," read a statement released on the club's official website on Friday.

Djukic will now be hoping to justify the board's show of faith in him by masterminding a victory over Getafe at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
